What To Expect

Zaanse Schans
The tour starts with the most famous windmills of Holland, just a stone throw away from Amsterdam. Zaanse Schans is the oldest industrial area of Europe and the backbone of the Dutch Golden Age, when hundreds of windmills stood on the banks of the river Zaan. These wonderful machines are the pride of Holland. You can visit a spice mill and smell the exotic spices of the Dutch East Indies, see how a paint mill produces paint the way Rembrandt did, or watch how a fully operational saw mill works.

Cheese Farm and demonstration and tasting
At the farm you will attend a professional demonstration of cheese-making. At Zaanse Schans, cheese making is an old Dutch guild, just like woodworking, wooden shoe making, pewter casting and distilling liqueur. You can attend a cheese-making demonstration at the Catharina Hoeve, where our staff – in traditional Dutch costumes – will inform you on Henri Willig cheese
The Henri Willig cheese family has been making delicious Gouda cheese since 1974. In over 30 branded stores, cheese lovers get to taste our cheese every day, and then travel with our cheeses all over the world. For Henri Willig makes any cheese dish or cheese board truly special.
