The Singel is one of the oldest canals with beautiful architecture and other sights like the round Koepel church, Cat Boat, Smallest House, Torensluis, Dolphin House, Krijtberg Church, Flower market and Munttoren.

Herengracht
The Herengracht (Gentleman's Canal) is considered one of the most important canals of Amsterdam. During the 17th century, it was inhabited by wealthy merchants, politicians and other influential citizens of Amsterdam. There are many prestigious buildings along the canal starting with the West Indisch Huis, Bartolotti huis, Rembrandt Classic Hotel, Cromhout Huizen, Kattenkabinet Museum, Mayors Residence, Italian Embassy, Seven Bridges view, and the Willet Holthuysen Museum. After passing the Amstel river we can see The Portuguese Synagogue and Hortus Botanicus ending at the Scheepvaart Museum.

Emperor's Canal (Keizersgracht)
The Emperor’s Canal is the middle one of the three main canals in Amsterdam. It was named after Emperor Maximilian of Austria. It is 31 meters wide, the widest canal in the inner city. You will see among other things, the Greenland Warehouses with their step gable ornaments, the Rode Hoed (red hat) with its hidden church, the House with the Heads, Canal House Hotel, Colman's House where Amnesty International is housed, Homo Monument, Felix Meritis, Dylan Hotel, House Marseille, John Adams house (2nd president of the USA), Foam Photography Museum, Museum van Loon with its original interior, and Geelvinck Museum.

Prinsengracht
Prinsengracht is the third and outermost of the three main canals of Amsterdam. The entrance to the Prinsengracht is the ‘Eenhoornsluis’ (Unicorn Lock), one of the 16 water locks which were built around the city in the 17th century, to control the water level in the canals and to protect the city against the sea. Continuing on you will see Hudde'Stone, the benchmark for the water level in the city's canals, Amsterdam Café ‘Papeneiland’ one of the oldest café’s in Amsterdam, Posthorn Hidden Church, Northern Church, Narrowest house in Amsterdam, Anne Frank House Museum, Amsterdam Western Church, Hotel Pulitzer in Amsterdam, "Red Deer" Brewery, Amsterdam Houseboat Museum, Amsterdam Café Molenpad, Amsterdam Dairy Factory, Prinsengracht Hospital, Wallonian Orphanage, Seven Bridges view, RK church de Duif (The pigeon), Amstelkerk Amsterdam church, Amstelveld square.

The Amstel
Amsterdam owes its name to the Amstel river. Towards the end of the 12th century, a small settlement originated around a dam in the Amstel river. This dam is still the most central part of town. When cruising on the Amstel we will pass Hotel L'Europe, City Hall, Museum Hermitage, the Magere Brug (Skinny Bridge), Amstel Intercontinental Hotel, Koninklijk Theater Carré, and Berlage Brug. It is possible to continue southwards down the Amstel as the river winds through the beautiful countryside to the small town of Ouderkerk on de Amstel
