What To Expect

Urk

We start this tour with a visit at the charming fishing village of Urk. This used to be an island before the man- made province of Flevoland was created. And it still has that island-feel. When you walk through the streets of Urk, don’t miss the characteristic white lighthouse, the small church by the sea (which is the oldest building of the village) and the monument (statue) that honors the fishermen who sailed out but never came home again.

Giethoorn

After Urk we go to the province of Overijssel, where Giethoorn is located: the Venice of the North! This unique village consists of numerous waterways, bridges and beautiful farmhouses. The word “picturesque” is an understatement here. You can choose from a range of things to do: go on a cruise, rent your own boat or just walk from bridge to bridge in this special water village.

Hattem

This town in the province of Gelderland is one of the country’s best kept secrets! Hattem is 800 years old and has a history which is still clearly visible today. There are magnificent monuments to admire, like the “Dijkpoort”, the old entrance gate to the town. The St. Andrews Church and the townhall are other must- sees when you’re in this compact fairytale- like town. And what’s a tour in the Netherlands without a visit to a beautiful windmill? Luckily Hattem has the “Fortuin”, a still working cornmill for you to discover.
