Tucked away in this quiet alley in the city center is a Golden Age correctional facility, that is typical for the change in mentality in that era. It is also somehow connected with the birth of capitalism in Amsterdam.

The Headquarters of the Dutch East India Company (VOC) was located here. There importance for the Golden Age can hardly be overstated, as our guide will expertly point out.
