Overview

Discover the fascinating life of Anne Frank and her family in Amsterdam at a walking tour of their most famous hiding place, located just a short walk from Central Station.

In 1942, the Nazis came for the Jews. The Franks had to go into hiding and live in rooms behind a false walls of their apartment. To survive, Anne Frank and her family were forced to go on a hunger strike for two weeks. Eventually the Germans offered them everything they wanted-food, false papers, freedom from deportation. Anne Frank died from typhus in 1945 at the age of fifteen while in hiding.

The Anne Frank House is one of Amsterdam's most visited attractions. A wooden staircase leads up to the top floor, where you'll find a hidden attic room that included two rooms and four doors. The house is now a museum, but visitors can also explore the building itself and see how it has changed over the years.

The house is open from June to September, and the museum is open from April to October.
